Senior Youth Engagement Officer

Salary: £30,000 per year

Hours: 37 hours per week (including frequent evenings and weekends)

Contract: Fixed until December 2027, with possibility of a 6 month extension

Location: Based at The Venture, Wrexham, with travel across North Wales

 

 

About the project

The National Lottery-funded Meddwl Ymlaen – Mind Our Future project is delivered by The Venture on behalf of the North East Wales Partnership. The project empowers young people aged 11 to 24 to influence how mental health services are shaped across Wrexham and Flintshire.

 

 

About the role

We are seeking a passionate, skilled Senior Youth Engagement Officer to lead the youth engagement and co-production elements of the project. You will play a central role in supporting the Young Leaders Advisory Board (YLAB), ensuring that young people are at the heart of decision making.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and facilitating the YLAB to shape the direction of the project
• Recruiting and engaging diverse young people from across Wrexham and Flintshire
• Supporting young leaders through mentoring, training, and development opportunities
• Planning and delivering workshops, events, and activities
• Acting as safeguarding lead for the project
• Promoting the voices of young people to influence services and policy

 

 

About you

You will bring significant experience of youth work, safeguarding, and empowering young people to take the lead. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire and support young people from diverse backgrounds.

 

 

Essential criteria include:

• Level 3 qualification in Youth Work (or equivalent)
• Experience as a safeguarding lead or significant safeguarding experience
• Experience of engaging and supporting young people and young adults
• Strong planning, facilitation, and organisational skills
• Ability to work evenings and weekends

 

 

Additional requirements

• Enhanced DBS check
• Drivers Licence and Ability to travel across North Wales
